Abstract

Exploring excellent catalysts for energy conversion is essential for meeting energy demands. The oxygen evolution reaction (OER) poses severe impediments for the advancement of energy conversion technologies like metal-air batteries and solar water splitting. OER catalysts with low overpotentials and high catalytic stability will solve this problem. As an example, the excellent OER performance of materials in the strongly correlated electron system will be introduced. TheOER catalytic activity in this system suggests the importance of electronic structure and electron correlation even at room temperature. The strongly correlated electron system is a promising playground for OER electrocatalysts.
