Abstract:

National Synchrotron Radiation Research Center (NSRRC), the biggest large-scale shared research facility in Taiwan, operates two accelerator light sources - the Taiwan Light Source (TLS) and the Taiwan Photon Source (TPS), two Taiwanese beamlines in SPring-8, Japan and a cold neutron triple-axis spectrometer located in the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organization (ANSTO), Australia. The experimental techniques based on synchrotron radiation and neutrons can generally categorized into imaging, diffraction/scattering, and spectroscopy and are powerfully tools to explore the physical and chemical properties of all kinds of materials under various environments and the mechanisms behind. Scientific examples and opportunities offered by the NSRRC will be presented.
