Quantum Technologies with Neutral Atoms: Clocks, Quantum Matter, and Quantum Interfaces

Abstract: 

Neutral atoms provide a versatile platform for quantum science, combining exquisite precision with the ability to control individual quantum systems. Their rich internal structure offers powerful tools for cooling, trapping, sensing, and coherent manipulation, — capabilities that form the foundation of neutral-atom quantum computing and quantum sensing. In this talk, I will present our work on metastable-state engineering and narrow-line Sisyphus cooling as tools for developing continuous ultracold atomic systems. I will also discuss our recent progress with ytterbium at IAMS and how these techniques are being extended toward quantum sensing, engineered atom–photon interfaces, and neutral-atom quantum information.
